Originally from Bournemouth, Dorset, Katie began Classical Ballet training from a young age, closely followed by her uptake of Jazz and Tap. Katie studied RAD and ISTD grades. In the year 2000 she became a Junior Associate of The Royal Ballet School, and in the following years graduated to become a Mid Associate, until leaving in 2005. Katie then discovered Contemporary Dance, and was accepted onto the Centre for Advanced Training (CAT) scheme, at The Place.
After graduating from the CAT scheme and completing A-Levels in Politics, Philosophy and Ancient History at Parkstone Grammar School, Dorset, Katie auditioned for various conservatoires across Britain. In 2011, Katie accepted an offer to join the BA (Hons) in Contemporary Dance at London Contemporary Dance School eventually graduating with a 1st Class Honors Degree.
At LCDS, Katie studied Ballet and Contemporary (Cunningham and Release) techniques daily under an incredible faculty including, Patricia Rianne, Laurent Cavanna, Jeannie Steele, Kate Price, Baptiste Bourgounon and Darren Ellis. As well as technique she studied modules in Choreography, Improvisation, Music, Anatomy and Partner Work, both Classical and Contact. These modules were been taught by inspirations such as Chisato Ohno and Rick Nodine. During her third year, Katie had the pleasure of working with Jose Agudo, Kerry Nicholls, Etta Murfitt and Richard Alston.
Post-graduation Katie worked with Avant Garde, Alvin Ailey, Alto Gyre, GAP and featured in various music videos. Alongside her performance career she was a part of the teaching faculty at both Laban and Studio 68.
